SOME BASIC PUMP PRIMERS

We're going to link you to some resources that should inspire you and get you started thinking about how you're going to research and write your stories.  (Click the links on the right.)

Start with examples of printed biographical stories.  Then listen to a couple of audio essays.

The multi-media and video stories come from MediaStorm.com.  For your purposes, you can imagine them as providing the raw material for printed stories.  Concentrate on how you might convert them to writing.

We're linking to a few short "how-to" videos of Ira Glass, creator of This American Life, talking about his secrets for effective story creation in any medium.  There's also 45 minute talk by a UNC professor about the essentials of story telling.

Feel free to browse and enjoy.
