Participating in Active Love
A new kind of love is flowing into our field of change and
awakening these days. It is a constant, forward evolving motion
of
positive engagement, beyond unselfish charity. It is lived
love. I
believe it is coming in with the new children.
Yes, love is many things and now we can incorporate all of the precious
varieties of love in its many forms into our lives.
Onoe analogy to express the varieties of love might be the way that two
hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom can manifest in many different forms:
H2O is ice, water, and steam.
When it is ice = it is a solid
When it is steam = it is gaseous
When it is water = it is a liquid.
Here's how we can use that metaphor to interpret the many
manifestations of love available to us on this planet today:
Love of a person = ice = solid.
In this form, love is limited by shape and matter and a sense of
"ownership." We love our mates, our children our parents, our
friends
in this way. The "my" is a determining factor. We love them
as "my"
own. At this level, we learn and practice love on this plane, the
starter course.
Unconditional love = steam = passive.
It flows everywhere without judgment. One of the most endearing
aspects of the animals we live with is that they can love us
unconditionally. It is believed that the Divine loves
unconditionally. It means that we have no restrictions to
offering
that love, no "I'll love you if you're good, or if you do this, or
change that." No expectations or negative judgments, just
love that
nods and accepts. We often have a taste of it when looking at a new
puppy, kitten, or baby.
Active love = water - strongest
element in the universe. Water
is so strong, it can wear down rocks--the Colorado River wore down the
entire Grand Canyon. Water nourishes. There IS no life
without water
(or without love). It changes things as it goes. While it
is such a
powerful force, it is able to flow to the lowest level and even there,
shape that which it touches without effort. When we are in active
love, we are an agent of the universe, a means by which jagged edges
are smoothed and everything flows as it is meant to. The movement
is
real, but natural. Not only does it expect nothing in return, it
has
made giving and receiving the very same experience. Active love.
Not a
self-congratulations, not a deal, in any way. It is inevitable in
a
better world. You'll recognize it by the feeling of fulfillment
it
floods you with. And you'll smile.
